A direct line
to your engineer.
Jessica Gerber, PE, CPESC
PRINCIPAL ENGINEERJG Environmental Engineering, PLLC is a woman-owned civil and environmental engineering practice based in Albany, New York. Jessica is a New York licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, with a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Clarkson University.
Her experience spans the public and private sectors: civil site design, stormwater and SWPPP design and review, water quality analysis, water and wastewater systems, environmental permitting, and construction inspection. That breadth means the firm can carry a project from the first question through approvals and construction, and knows how the reviewer on the other side of the table will read the submittal.
From open question
to finished work.
Technical depth matters. So does knowing what to do with it. Every engagement starts with the question in front of you and ends with something you can act on: a plan set, a permit, an inspection report, or a clear answer.
Start with your questionMake the issue understandable.
Make the next action clear.
- 01
Discuss the fit
Share the location, what you are trying to do, and the date that matters. Confirm whether the work is a fit.
- 02
Agree the scope
Establish deliverables, fees, timing, and team responsibilities before engineering work begins.
- 03
Do the work
Design, review, permitting, or field work within the agreed scope, with questions raised as they come up, not at the end.
- 04
Define the next step
Receive the deliverable, the open items, and the recommended next action for your project.
A little more
clarity.
The practical details behind working with a small firm.
01I am not sure which service I need. Can we start there?+
Yes. Start with the location, what you are trying to do, and the date that matters. You do not need plans, permits, or the technical vocabulary to make an inquiry.
02Do you design septic systems?+
Yes. Onsite wastewater design, soil and percolation testing, and the county or state health department application are a normal engagement for a new house, an addition, or a failed system.
03Do you do SWPPP inspections?+
Yes, on a limited number of sites in Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties, with nearby areas by arrangement, so each one gets a consistent weekly visit. Jessica is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.
04How far do you travel?+
Design, review, and permitting work is delivered anywhere in New York State outside New York City. Field work is in Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties, with nearby areas by arrangement.
05Can you work with my existing engineer, architect, or contractor?+
Yes. A defined piece of the work, a second opinion, or construction-phase support alongside an existing team are all normal arrangements. Responsibilities are written into the scope before work begins.
06How do fees work?+
Every engagement is quoted after a conversation about the site and the scope. Smaller, well-defined tasks are usually a fixed fee; larger or open-ended work is hourly against an agreed budget. There is no charge for the first conversation.
Tell us what you are trying to do.
We will tell you what it takes.
The first conversation is free. Scope, fees, and timing are agreed before any work begins.
